- Chatgpt Plus subscribers can now use the GPT-5 thought model more than before
- Sam Altman confirmed the change in X after the reaction of the users to the limits of the rate of 200 message per day.
- GPT-5 launched last week to a great reaction of users
Sam Altman has confirmed that Chatgpt Plus users will obtain larger rates limits to use the reasoning capabilities of the new GPT-5 AI model after a violent reaction of paid subscribers.
The Operai CEO announced the change in X, where it tweeted: “We are significantly increasing the rate limits for the reasoning of Chatgpt users, and all model limits will soon be higher than they were before GPT-5”.
Altman also announced that a new UI change is incoming to show users which model is working in response to a notice. These changes come after a generalized reaction after the launch of GPT-5 last week and the elimination of the popular AI GPT-4O model (Openai has reversed the elimination).
In addition, subscribers who pay $ 20/£ 20 per month for more powerful models, larger tariff limits and other benefits, such as early access to the latest OpenAi offers, were disappointed by the limitations of the GPT-5 thought model to 200 messages per day, and although Altman says that the company has rectified this, it does not explicitly say at what point.
Today we are significantly increasing the fee limits for the reasoning of Chatgpt users, and all model class limits will be shorter higher than they were before GPT-5. We will also make a user interface change to indicate which model is working.August 10, 2025
A step forward, two steps back
When Operai announced a live broadcast to show the future of Chatgpt, the emotion was palpable. However, hours after Altman tweeted an image of the death star of Star Wars, fans mass to social networks to express their unhappiness with GPT-5.
While it seems that Altman and CO are looking for some mistakes, especially for their paid subscribers who felt that the premium product had been silly during the night, it seems that GPT-5 could be a disappointment for many.
We are at a point where what is expected to be a great innovation of AI could end up being an incremental update. After all, we have reached an agreement with the chatbots of AI as a useful tool in general, so the novelty factor has almost disappeared.
Now, I would suspect that the future of Chatgpt updates will be filled with incremental speed impulse, new user interface designs and slight adjustments to improve older models. This, in turn, will lead to disappointment, since Altman will not be able to comply with the legendary exaggeration that he puts in his own products, and the users who have attached to a specific way of interacting with AI will be disappointed by the ‘improvements’ that change the way in which the AI responds to their indications.
For now, Operai has rectified one of the GPT-5 launch conflict points last week, but I have a constant sense of adjustment to please the company’s most loyal fans base could be the new normality.
