- Samsung Display will soon start producing folding phone screens for an American customer
- It is very likely that client is Apple, suggesting that the iPhone fold could land next year
- Thanks to previous leaks we have a good idea what to expect from the phone
At this point, most rumors suggest that the folding iPhone, or the iPhone fold, as it could be called, will be launched next year, and now that seems even more likely, since a surprising source has suggested the same.
You will see, according to Chosunbiz (through Phone Arena), the president of Samsung Display, Lee Cheong, has said that the company is preparing to produce mass folding telephone panels for an American customer.
Now, that client is not named, but the obvious candidate is Apple, since it is rumored that the folding iPhone will land next year, and since the Samsung screen already performs iPhone screens.
So this is perhaps the clearest sign that the iPhone fold will land in 2026, although if it does, we imagine that it will land in September 2026 together with the iPhone 18 series, so there could still be a great wait.
Impressive features at a premium price
It remains to be seen if the iPhone fold will be worth it, but the leaks and rumors have given us an idea what to expect.
On the one hand, we have heard that you could use Touch ID instead of Face ID, and that it could have a 24MP low show camera, which, together with the lack of components of ID in face, could make this the first iPhone with a design truly on the entire screen.
The folding iPhone could also have a screen without folds, with this folding screen that possibly reaches 7.74 inches and joins a 5.49 -inch cover screen.
It can have only 4.8 mm thick when it develops, which makes it even thinner than the 5.6 mm iPhone air, and could have two 48 MP rear cameras, along with a selfie camera on each screen.
All this will surely have a high price, and although the rumors do not agree on the exact price, the most recent we have heard is $ 1,999 (around £ 1,500 / au $ 3,050).
Then, maybe waiting until next September for the iPhone fold is not so bad, since at least it will give Apple fans a lot of time to save.
