- The Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 seems to have leaked in its entirety
- It seems that Samsung could be abandoning its iconic circle for a design closer to Apple Watch
- Both the classic 8 and 8 are represented with a ‘squad’ body
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 seems to have leaked in its entirety, revealing that the company could be configured to introduce a mass design change.
The filtration follows the appearance of the update of One UI 8 Watch, which has revealed some major software changes that reach the Galaxy Watch, including Gemini AI.
As seen by Android Authority, the animation files for the new models buried in the code of the next launch of the software reveal the design of the Galaxy Watch 8 and Watch 8 Classic, and both apparently have a body in the form of ‘Squirgy’.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 Design
The best smart watches in the market, particularly the best Apple watches, all have a Squircle design that lends itself more easily to a portable user interface. In my experience, Wear circular devices tend to have poorly spaced and wasteful designs that never feel as effective as Watchos.
However, if these design leaks are precise (these could also be images of position marker that do not reflect the final design): Samsung is adopting the square chassis of the Galaxy Watch Ultra while maintaining the circular visualization of the classical range, which is possibly the worst of both worlds.
The images clearly show a Galaxy Watch 8 and 8 Classic that resemble Ultra and Myriad Apple watches, which would be a great shake of the current design.
As the report points out, the Galaxy Watch 8 appears configured to retain its two buttons, while the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic is configured to add the fast ultra button.
A firmware video also shared by AA clearly reveals a Galaxy Watch 8 with an Squircle design. The report also indicates that the files “do not seem to be position markers”, but does not rule out the possibility.
If these images are the real business, the Galaxy Watch 8 could mark the end of an era for Samsung, with the withdrawal of its iconic circular design that leaves the Pixel clock as the best Android smart watch that still covers the circular chassis.
With the Galaxy Watch 8 it is expected to be launched in July, we do not have much time to wait before discovering it.
