- Samsung is said to be developing a Brain Health feature
- I would be on the lookout for early signs of dementia.
- We should hear more about this in the coming weeks.
Our smartphones are capable of tracking a lot of statistics and information about us, and Samsung is apparently adding something new to the mix: a brain health feature that looks for early signs of dementia.
We don’t know much about this yet, as Samsung hasn’t officially announced it, but according to a report from Chosun Biz (via Android Authority), the Brain Health service will be unveiled at the CES 2026 show that starts on Tuesday, January 6.
According to the report, Brain Health will monitor your voice, gait, and sleep patterns for indicators of cognitive decline. Apparently, the data will be collected by both your phone and any Samsung wearable devices you have.
Clinical validation for this is apparently in the works, although Brain Health won’t be able to definitively say whether you’re at risk for dementia or not, just that you may be showing some signs of it that you should discuss with your doctor.
Dementia prevention
The report says Brain Health will also include “enhancing and preventing features” to keep the brain alert and reduce the chances of dementia developing in the future. Apparently, it will include, for example, a brain training program.
All sensitive data will be protected by Samsung Knox security, according to Chosun Biz, and data will be managed locally rather than sent to the cloud. It seems likely that it will work in conjunction with what Samsung Health already offers.
While the possibility of getting dementia isn’t something any of us want to think about, it happens, and Brain Health appears to be a useful way to detect it early, as well as explore ways to keep cognitive decline at bay.
We’ll be covering all the CES news and announcements over the course of the next few weeks, and we should hear more about Brain Health, including when and where it will be available, in the near future.
