- A UI 8 comes in “Summer” for the United States
- Samsung first took out a UI 7 in January
- It is still not clear which phones will get it
We have barely had the opportunity to see an UI 7 (Samsung’s version on Android 15), which first appeared on Samsung Galaxy S25 phones in January, but an UI 8 (Samsung version of Android 16) will be with us in the coming months.
This comes from the vice president of Samsung and head of smartphone planning, Minseok Kang (through Gsmarena). Speaking at the recent Android Show event of Google before Google I/S next week, Kang said that an UI 8 would launch “this summer” in the United States.
That places the release date somewhere through June, July or August. In the same event, Google said that Android 16 would be expelled in June after months of beta tests, and the previous leaks suggest that on Tuesday, June 3 it will be the big day.
We have known for a while that Google has planned to expel its great annual Android update at the beginning of the year, far ahead of the Pixel phone pressures, and it seems that Samsung is on board with the plan, and is interested in a user interface being held up to date.
What phones will an UI 8 get?

The next question is: What Galaxy phones will an UI 8 get? Samsung has not yet said much about this, and it is not clear immediately if there is any phone that is eligible for an UI 7 but not for an UI 8.
The well -known Tipster @tarunvats33 has seen a reference point that shows the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra of 2022 that runs an early version of an UI 8, which suggests that the new software will return to the phones that at least have at least three years.
As the current flagship, there is no doubt that the Galaxy S25 series will obtain the ONE UI 8 update, and it is a fairly safe bet that Samsung Galaxy S24 phones and other 2024 models will also obtain it. Beyond that, we will have to wait and see.
The previous rumors suggested that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7, due in July, would come with an IU 8 outside the box. Based on the new comments of Minsoak Kang, it seems that this will be the case.
All this means that, in theory, the Galaxy S25, S24, S23 and S22 series should obtain an UI 8, and potentially also the Galaxy S21 Fe.
The last three iterations of the Z Fold and Z Flip series must also be covered (from Flip 4 and Z Fold 4 to today’s models), along with the Galaxy Tab range that goes back to the Galaxy Tab S8 from 2022, in addition to Galaxy A-Series phones that extend towards the A23 from the same year. But we will have to wait a little longer for that full official list.
