Saudi Arabia extends $ 100 million from oil facilities


Islamabad:

Saudi Arabia renewed an oil supply installation for Pakistan for a value of $ 100 million per month in deferred payment for another year under the Saudi Development Fund, the Federal Cabinet Shabaz Sharif said on Tuesday.

By chairing the meeting, Shehbaz also expanded in his conversations with a World Bank delegation and the managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), who praised Pakistan’s macroeconomic stability as a result of the Government Reform Agenda.

The prime minister informed the cabinet meeting about a letter sent by the Saudi heir prince and Prime Minister, Prince Mohammed Bin Salman. He added that he was “deeply grateful to Saudi leadership” for standing next to Pakistan “at every difficult moment.”

Shehbaz said that the Saudi heir prince, in his letter, had informed him about the renewal of the monthly supply of $ 100 million for another year by the Saudi Development Fund on the basis of the deferred payment of oil products for Pakistan.

“We are deeply grateful to the Saudi heir prince and Prime Minister Mohammed Bin Salman and Saudi leadership,” said Prime Minister. “Saudi Arabia has always been with Pakistan in difficult times,” he added.

In his opening comments, Shehbaz said that the complete elimination of terrorism was the mission of his government, emphasizing that Pakistan’s development and prosperity were linked to him. In this sense, he praised the sacrifices provided by the armed forces of Pakistan in the fight against terrorism.

He directed the Ministry of Commerce and other related divisions that made total efforts to bring the bilateral trade between Pakistan and Turkiye at $ 5 billion in the light of the resolution expressed during the recently completed visit of the president of Turkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Pakistan .

The prime minister ordered that the implementation of the office in all federal ministries and departments should be completed before March 20. He also directed that the entire services provision system in Pakistani missions abroad must be digitized to facilitate foreign Pakistani.

The cabinet was informed that the use of E-Office reached 98% in all federal government divisions with a 100% implementation in 39 divisions. In addition, 176 institutions had also successfully adopted the system.

The cabinet approved the signing of an international agreement under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea for the protection and use of various marine resources in international waters on the recommendation of the Ministry of Climate Change. This initiative would benefit Pakistani fishermen.

The cabinet also approved the signature of Annex 2 with Somalia with respect to the national identity system. Currently, the National Registry and Database Authority of Pakistan (Nadra) is helping Somalia in the National Identification System.

In the directives of the Superior Court of Islamabad and on the recommendation of the Ministry of Health, the meeting sent a request for review for the Watim Medical College registration, Rawalpindi, to the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) for more legal procedures.

On the recommendation of the Ministry of Human Rights, the Cabinet sent six nominees for the position of member of the Capital of Islamabad (ICT) in the National Human Rights Commission to Prime Minister and the opposition leader in Parliament.

The Cabinet approved the formation of an investigation commission to investigate the irregularities in the elections of the Governing Body of the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), as recommended by the Ministry of Science and Technology.

The meeting approved the amendments to the Rules of the Internal Income Court (appointment, terms and service conditions), 2024. It supported the decisions taken by the Economic Coordination Committee and the Cabinet Committee on Legislative Cases in its meetings in principles of this month.

The cabinet approved the appointment of Kamran Jahangir as managing director of the National Book Foundation and the appointment of Dr. Shahid Aslam Mirza as managing director of the authority of the port of the Korangi fishing.

PM inaugurates Erdogan’s exchange

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated on Tuesday the exchange of Recep Tayyip Erdogan near the F-8 and F-9 sectors, praising the efforts of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and his entire team for completing the project in 84 days records.
