Islamabad:
The Supreme Court set the request for contempt to the Court against the founding president of PTI and former Prime Minister Imran Khan for an audience on March 21.
A Constitutional Bank of five members, led by Judge Aminuddin Khan, will hear the case. The bank includes Judge Jamal Khan Commandkhail, Judge Naeem Akhtar Afghan, Judge Hashim Khan Kakar and Judge Aamer Faooq.
The request for contempt was presented by the Federal Government with respect to the decision of the founder of PTI to lead the long march of May 25, 2022 to D-Chowk instead of the designated protest site.
During the last hearing, the court had requested a government response about whether it intended to follow the case more.
The legal advisor of the founder of PTI, Salman Akram Raja, has already presented an answer.
In 2022, the Supreme Court had assigned a specific land for the long march, and PTI’s legal representatives had assured compliance with the designated route. However, the march, directed by the founder of PTI, arrived at Jinnah Avenue on May 26, 2022, where he concluded. According to the reports, the protesters set fire to the trees near D-HoWk during the demonstration.
Meanwhile, the Constitutional Bank that will listen to important cases from March 17 to 21. These include cases related to stone crushing, the rights of sanitation workers, pensions and benefits for the widow of the late judge Arshad Malik, as well as a warning of SOSO MOTU on the deaths caused by pneumonia and hepatitis.
