- The latest version of Asus Gpu Tweak III comes with a new and ingenious characteristic
- The power detector+ warns him if any of the pins in the graphics card supplier has too many amplifiers that flow through them
- That could lead to a scenario in which the power cable melts, as we have seen in the reports, so the warning should help you avoid a possible bad result
Asus has launched a new version of its GPU software suite that adds what could be a very useful warning, or in fact criticism, when temperatures work with the graphics card, and a fusion disaster of the power connector may occur.
The latest version of the GPU Tweak III software comes with the Power Detector+ Warning function, which Asus points out is exclusive to ROG Astral and Matrix graphics cards.
The Astral Models are RTX 5090 and 5080, and the ROG matrix is the RTX 4090 last generation ship.
As Videcardz reports, the idea is that the software monitors the power cable, specifically the amps value for the pins (inside the connector) connected to the port on its graphics card. In case there is a problem with one (or more) of the pins that do not feel correctly, and the value is zero or increases above 9 amps, the utility will mark a warning.
The cable that is not sitting correctly in this way is a possible scenario in which the feeding connector could end up overheating to the point where he melts, as we have seen in the past with some NVIDIA GPU.
This means that when you get this warning, you can turn your PC quickly, and then check the power cable, maybe disconnect and then connect it firmly. With luck, that will solve any problem and avoid a cable fusion incident that could damage the GPU.
Analysis: more than this type of monitoring, please, although it is in the pipe elsewhere
Interestingly, the GPU adjustment software is a utility that can be used with all GPUs, AMD or NVIDIA, and not just ASUS models either. However, there is only support for this warning related to the power provided for the Black RTX 5090 and 4090, and the Astral RTX 5080, as noted, at least for now.
Perhaps the manufacturer of graphics cards will expand this support in time, since it is undoubtedly a useful warning system to have, and cable merger reports are not exclusive to these models.
” Will Always Be in the Most Perilous Situations, Power Connector-Wise, Given The Vast Amount of Wattage They Command-Privately If you’re going to overclock these Beasts off-graphics desktop cards).
With luck, other suppliers will rise to this energy warning car, although some players have already been using the Hwinfo tool to monitor the amplifiers of the pins of their power cable. Keep in mind that this functionality for Hwinfo is only in beta tests at this time (and also requires a second utility, Rivatuner, to function).
Long and short is that the fully molten and proven support will be in Hwinfo in a short time, hopefully. The more widespread this type of monitoring can be done, the better.
