ESPN will acquire the NFL network and other media assets, including the popular NFL channel.

In return, the League will receive a 10% participation in the sports network as part of a historical agreement, the two parties announced on Tuesday.

The change in control caused some fear among football fans about whether the agreement would lead to changes.

But one thing that does not seem to be changing soon is the host of Redzone. Scott Hanson, who anchored Redzone since 2009, resorted to social networks to relieve concerns about his role for the 2025 season.

“It’s official. (And for those who wonder: Yes, I will still be organizing Redzone).) I shot for a great season! Optimistic about this new association!” Hanson wrote in X.

According to the agreement, the NFL will continue to possess, operate and produce the programming of Redzone channels from its studies in southern California. ESPN will handle the distribution of cable and satellite, while the League will retain the rights to distribute it on digital platforms.

“By combining these assets of the NFL media with ESPN’s reach and innovation, we are creating a main destination for football fans,” said ESPN president Jimmy Pitaro, in a statement. “Together, ESPN and the NFL are redefining how fans get involved with the game, at any time, anywhere. This agreement helps feed ESPN’s digital future, laying the foundations for an even more solid offer while preparing to launch our new direct service to the consumer.”

NFL Network is expected to be added to the next direct transmission service to ESPN. The service is scheduled to launch this autumn and will offer access to the ESPN Professional and University Sports portfolio.
