President Donald Trump will make his third appearance at a New York sporting event this week when he attends the Ryder Cup in Bethpage Black on Friday.
He attended the final of the Male Open on September 7, and four days later he took a game of the New York Yankees against the Tigers of Detroit on the 24th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11.
The golf fan will see the EE. UU team and the Europe team face at the People’s Country Club in the first Ryder Cup in the New York Metropolitan Area, and the world number 1 of the world Scottie Scheffler is excited about that.

“Having the president here, it has been a difficult weeks for our country with some of the things that have been happening, and having our president here and to represent the United States of America, although being in a golf tournament is extremely important for us, and we are excited to be in his homeland with the local crowd, and we are ready to obtain this tour,” Scheffler said in reporters in Bethpage in Bethpage Tuesday.
Scheffler also revealed that he has spoken with Trump after some of his great victories in the course, praising him as someone who “loves the golf game” and “treats people with the greatest respect.”
“I receive a call or a text message sometimes after winning. He simply loves the golf game, and is one of those guys when you are close to him, he does a good job, such as feeding confidence in all those around him,” Scheffler said.
“That was one of the things that I noticed a lot with the little time I spent with him, is that he treats everyone in the same way and treats people with the greatest respect. Whether it is the person who serves us lunch or the caddie in the golf course or the guy who is the president of the club that we are, treats everyone as the best person in the world.”

The Captain of the US team. UU., Keegan Bradley, added: “I am deeply honored that the president of the United States will support our team in the Ryder Cup. I think that every time it can be close to a current president it is something quite phenomenal, but when he is representing his country in a place like Bethpage Black in New York, having the president there to support him is something absolutely incredible. Incredible.
He also gave some news about the president’s plans in the process.
“I really hope how that first shirt will be with the president in the TEE. I think that this first shirt in Bethpage will be a sporting event to remember in any sport, and then add to the president of the United States standing there, I really think it will be something that everyone remembers forever.”

Trump visited his doral course in Miami the day before an LIV golf event earlier this year and played in a Liv Golf Pro-AM in his course in Washington, DC, in 2023. However, he has not attended a professional event as a fan since August 2023, when LIV went to its Bedminster course.
Trump attended the closing ceremony in the 2017 Presidents Cup in Jersey City, New Jersey, where the US team defeated the international team.
