‘Scream 7’ big salary difference

Neve Campbell vs. Courteney Cox: Big pay gap in ‘Scream 7’

Neve Campbell returns to take on Ghostface in Scream 7, and she’s getting paid handsomely for it.

According VarietyThe 52-year-old actress landed a deal worth nearly $7 million to reprise her role as Sidney Prescott in the upcoming seventh installment, which hits theaters on February 27, 2026.

That figure is significant, especially since it is $5 million more than what his co-star Courteney Cox receives for the same film.

Cox, 61, who has played acerbic journalist Gale Weathers in all Shout film since the 1996 original, received $2 million for its return, a notable gap that underscores how central Sidney Prescott is to the franchise’s identity and, frankly, its box office appeal.

Campbell had sat down Scream VI in 2023 following a salary dispute, but his return in the seventh film has been one of the most anticipated horror stories of this year.

Reworking the script to bring Campbell’s Sidney back into the fold cost around $500,000. The film’s total budget amounts to $45 million, compared to $35 million spent on the sixth film.

The response from fans has been warm.

“I’m so excited to see Sidney in the spotlight again,” one fan wrote in a post shared by Campbell herself. “You deserve all the great things! February 27th can’t come fast enough.”

Shout 7 opens in theaters on Friday, February 27.
