ISLAMABAD:
The National Assembly was informed on Friday that the Hyderabad-Sukkur Expressway (M-6) project is progressing through multiple financing and partnership agreements, with different sections expected to be completed between 2028 and 2029.
Responding to questions during Question Time, the parliamentary secretary for communications said: “Various sections of the project are anticipated to be completed between 2028 and 2029.”
He said the project was discussed at the Joint Working Group (JWG) on Communications meeting held on September 3, 2024, and then reviewed at the Joint Cooperation Committee (JCC) meeting in Beijing on September 26, 2025.
The secretary said Pakistan had invited Chinese companies to participate in the bidding process for M-6 and two additional stretches planned under Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode.
He informed the House that the National Highways Authority (NHA) had initially signed a PPP agreement for the M-6 in December 2022, with completion initially scheduled for December 2025, including six months for financial closure.
