Pakistan’s security forces killed eight militants and wounded another four in a shooting near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, the army media wing said on Sunday.

According to public relations between services (ISPR), the clash occurred on the night of April 5 to 6 when the movement of militants tried to infiltrate Pakistan was detected. The security forces responded quickly, which led to an intense shooting that lasted several hours.

“The infiltrated were effectively committed, which resulted in eight khawarij eliminated and four critically injured,” said the ISPR statement, adding that the injured militants retired through the border to Afghanistan.

Pakistan has repeatedly asked the interim Afghan government that strengthens border management and prevents its territory from being used as a basis for launching attacks against Pakistan.

“The interim Afghan government is expected to comply with its obligations and deny the use of its territory by the militants,” the statement emphasized.

Pakistan security forces remain committed to ensuring the borders of the nation and eliminating the threat of terrorism, the ISPR concluded.
