The Senate unanimously condemned yesterday’s terrorist attack aimed at a school bus in the Khuzdar district of the province of Baluchistan, which claimed the lives of several children.
The legislators described the incident as inhuman and demanded a rapid action against terrorist groups backed by India that allegedly operated in the region.
The Vice Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Senator Irfan-Ul-Haq Siddiqui, and others talked about the role of India in supporting terrorism in Pakistan, asking for a firm action against external threats.
In his speech, Senator Anwar Ul Haq Kakar emphasized the need to address the loss of innocent lives and hold groups with extremist ideologies, particularly those associated with the RSS and BJP of India, to encourage violence in Pakistan.
Senator Irfan-Ul-Haq Siddiqui also condemned Khuzdar’s attack, saying that it was unimaginable that such violence could inflict innocent schoolchildren.
He rejected any sympathy for terrorists and requested a decisive military action to eliminate perpetrators. “I have spent my whole life with words, but I have no words to describe the brutality of this incident,” said Siddiqui.
Senator Sherry Rehman joined to condemn the attack, describing him as an act of inhumanity.
She reaffirmed the unwavering Pakistan’s position against terrorism, referring to past anti -terrorism operations and the evidence of Indian participation in terrorist activities.
Rehman emphasized that no dialogue should take place with those who point to innocent civilians. “There can be no talks with such forces of violence,” he said.
Aimal Wali Khan of the Awami National Party condemned the brutality against children, comparing it with cruelty that “animals would not even be inflicted.”
He criticized the persistent cycle of guilt and inaction, stating that without the proper implementation of policies such as the National Action Plan, such tragedies would continue.
“For 50 years, we expect the next incident, we blame others and move on,” he said.
Khan also raised concerns about the negligence of Waziristan and other tribal areas, emphasizing the lack of digital tools and basic infrastructure for children who grow in these regions.
“Our children are growing without basic digital tools,” he said. He explained frustration for the disrespectful language of a government official in the Senate committees, saying: “We are not here to be insulted.”
He asked for the resignation of the official involved, emphasizing that the problem was not personal, but it was about defending the oppressed people of Waziristan and Pakistan as a whole.
Vawda looks for a higher defense expense
Senator Faisal Vawda has requested a significant increase in Pakistan’s defense budget, advocating the duplication of military personnel wages in response to the main security concerns, particularly after recent tensions with India.
In a Senate session, Vawda proposed that Pakistan prioritize defense expense on the National Development Budget, citing the growing security threats facing the country. “We must adjust our belts and reduce the development budget to increase defense spending.”
Vawda declared, urging that the salaries of the Armed Forces double to reflect the seriousness of the situation. With Pakistan’s recent response to the provocations of India, including the death of 285 Indian soldiers in border clashes, Vawda emphasized that the largest military and historical aggression in India requires a strategic change in the nation’s defense priorities.
Vawda also requested the political unit, emphasizing that the government and the opposition must work together to ensure the defense of the country. “This initiative can only succeed if all political parties join under a single flag,” he added.
