ISLAMABAD:
The Senate Standing Committee on Housing and Works on Wednesday highlighted the need for immediate payment of outstanding salaries to the ten employees of the Pakistan Public Works Department (Pak PWD) Maintenance Staff Establishment and their appropriate adjustment.

The body discussed in detail the issue of non-payment of salaries to ten employees of Pakistan Public Works Department (Pak PWD) Maintenance Staff Establishment, whose salaries remain pending since July 1, 2025.
The committee emphasized the need to immediately pay the pending salaries and adjust these employees from the same date when other employees of Pak PWD in Balochistan were adjusted in various departments.

Some 2,860 employees receive salaries uninterruptedly.
However, around 173 employees are approaching the Finance Division for budget allocation for the current financial year while the verification process of 83 IB employees is underway.
The chairman asked the authorities concerned to confirm whether all the mentioned employees are actually receiving their salaries and to present a clear and verified position to the committee.
The panel was further briefed on the issue of 15 lower grade maintenance employees of Central Civil Division, Pak PWD, who were transferred to AGPR and T Office, Lahore, but have not been adjusted or paid salaries for the last six months.
The committee expressed serious concern over the matter and stressed a quick resolution.
The Ministry of Housing and Works apprised the Committee about the current status of absorption/induction of Pak PWD employees and payment of their salaries, pensions, gratuities and other dues.
The body also reviewed the status of acquisition, development and utilization of Constantia Estate, Murree. Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue), Murree, was reported to have recommended submission of a formal application addressed to the Deputy Commissioner for land mutation.
