ISLAMABAD:
The Senate will meet on Thursday (today) night for a crucial session that is expected to expedite several amendment bills passed by the National Assembly, while lawmakers will also raise a number of issues of public importance during the session.
According to a 27-point agenda issued by the Senate Secretariat, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, Home Minister Senator Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi and Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar will present several bills for approval.
The minister in charge of the Cabinet Division is expected to move a motion requesting the suspension of the notice period required by Rule 120 to allow bills passed by the National Assembly to be dealt with immediately.
Various warning notices will also feature prominently. Zeeshan Khanzada’s notice on interest and Bushra Anjum Butt’s notice regarding the increasing prevalence of heart diseases related to the consumption of industrially produced trans fats.
