PML-N Senator Irfan ul Haq Siddiqui’s family has rejected claims circulating on social media that the veteran MP has been put on a ventilator, instead confirming that he is receiving treatment in the intensive care unit (ICU) for breathing-related complications.
Clarifying his condition on Monday, the family said that while Siddiqui’s respiratory problems required a transfer to the ICU, doctors have not deemed ventilatory support necessary. They added that his vital signs remain stable and medical staff are closely monitoring his progress.
Rumors about the senator’s health began circulating earlier in the day, sparking concern among colleagues and party supporters. The family stressed that unverified reports had created unnecessary alarm and asked the public to only trust information officially shared by family members or medical professionals.
Siddiqui has been admitted to a local hospital in Islamabad for the past few days. The nature of the respiratory problem requiring treatment has not been publicly revealed.
