The Ottawa Senators returned to action on Thursday, and Team USA star Brady Tkachuk was right in the middle of the team’s 2-1 overtime loss to the Detroit Red Wings.
Tkachuk, 26, opened the scoring in the game when he fired a shot from the slot on the power play to give the Senators a 1-0 lead in the first period.
While Tkachuk and the Senators were off the scoreboard for the rest of the game, he was still involved in the action.

In the second period, after the Red Wings tied the game on a Dylan Larkin power-play goal, Tkachuk was left bloodied by a hit.
Red Wings defenseman Simon Edvinsson stepped into Tkachuk, dropping the Senators captain to the ice while holding his face. Tkachuk’s teammate Dylan Cozens took issue with Edvinsson’s hit and dropped his gloves.
Edvinsson landed a couple solid hits and threw Cozens to the ice. After the fight, a trainer helped Tkachuk to the bench and put a towel over his face.

After Edvinsson and Cozens fought, many other Red Wings and Senators players tangled with each other. They finally untangled themselves, and the referees were gathering at center ice when Tkachuk skated from the bench into the Red Wings’ penalty box to talk to Edvinsson.
The referees quickly moved in to pull Tkachuk away and quickly gave him a 10-minute misconduct penalty. Once in the box, Tkachuk and Edvinsson stood up and barked at each other.
