Seven guards were injured when the unknown assailants threw a grenade in the residence of the senior leader of the Popular Party of Pakistan (PPP), Agha Shakil Ahmed Durrani and the senator of the Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N), Agha Shazeb Durrani, on Friday night in the Khuzdar Talwar area.
According to the SSP Khuzdar Shehzada Umar Abbas Babar, the attackers threw the Granada into the outer wall of the house, causing an explosion that was felt in the nearby buildings.
“This was a cowardly act to disturb peace in the area,” he said, adding that fortunately lives were not lost and that the injured guards only suffered minor injuries.
Police said the attackers, riding a motorcycle, managed to escape after the explosion. Since then, security forces have launched a search operation, and additional personnel have been deployed in the area.
The SSP said that more investigations were underway with the help of CCTV images and witness statements, promising: “We will soon arrest the guilty and expose the elements behind them.”

The injured guards were transferred to the Khuzdar Teaching Hospital, where officials confirmed that their condition was stable and would be discharged soon.
Baluchistan’s prime minister, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, strongly condemned the attack, describing it as an act of terrorism.
In a statement on the social media platform X, he said that such incidents “cannot weaken the resolution of people and political leadership.” Prayed for the rapid recovery of the injured.
He ordered the law enforcement agencies to carry out immediate investigations and take the perpetrators before justice.
The PPP leader, Agha Shakil Ahmed Durrani, former mayor of the Khuzdar district, described the attack as a conspiracy by political rivals. “We are the martyrs party, and such attacks cannot intimidate us. Restoring peace in Baluchistan is our priority,” he said.
The incident spread fear among residents, but the authorities said that timely action helped stabilize the situation. The authorities added that Khuzdar has seen such attacks in the past, and all resources were being used to restore peace in the district.
