A bomb explosion near the Peace Office Committee (AMAN) in the Wana area of the Southern Waziristan district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP), has killed at least seven people and left another 29 wounds, said Express News.
The attached commissioner Nasir Khan confirmed that the explosion occurred near the facilities of the Committee, which resulted in multiple victims.
The injured were transferred to the Hospital of the District headquarters in Wana to receive treatment. Police officers reported that the Paz Committee’s office was completely destroyed in the explosion.
The authorities have initiated an investigation into the incident, but so far no group has assumed the responsibility of the attack.
The explosion comes in a context of rising militant activity in Pakistan. According to the Institute of Conflict and Security Studies of Pakistan (PICSS), January 2025 witnessed a 42% increase in terrorist incidents compared to the previous month.
The photos recorded 74 militant attacks throughout the country during the month, causing 91 deaths, including 35 security personnel, 20 civilians and 36 militants, and wounding another 117.
Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa continued to be the most affected region, with 27 attacks in its established districts and 19 attacks in tribal areas (old fata), which resulted in significant casualties.
Baluchistan also experienced a greater militant activity with 24 registered attacks.
