LAHORE:
The old case of Ramzan Sugar Mills took a dramatic turn after six years when the plaintiff dissociated the case, stating in the court that he had no objection to the acquittal of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his son Hamza Shehbaz Sharif.
Appearing before the Anti -Corruption Court, the plaintiff Zulfiqar Ali told Judge Sardar Muhammad Iqbal that he did not file the complaint against the sharifs or was aware of the request in which the case began.
“Withdraw this application,” he said. Given this, the judge ordered Ali to present a affidavit confirming his position.
Subsequently, Ali presented the affidavit, reiterating that he had no participation in the case. In his statement, he said that he did not know the content of the complaint, he had not signed any application and had not known knowledge about the construction of the wastewater drain near Ramzan Sugar Mills, which is in the heart of the case.
“I have no objection if Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his son Hamza Shehbaz Sharif are acquitted,” Ali said in his affidavit.
The judge asked if the plaintiff’s statement had been registered above, to which Ali responded negative.
Meanwhile, a representative of Prime Minister Shehbaz marked assistance, and the court postponed the procedures until January 30 to obtain more arguments.
Speaking to the media, Zulfiqar Ali said that his judicial declaration was made without any external pressure.
