KARACHI:

Sindh Chief Minister and Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon strongly condemned the hate-filled and linguistically biased speeches delivered at a recent ceremony at the Governor House, describing the choice of words and ideas as deeply regrettable.

Speaking at the Sindh Assembly, Memon called Sindh the land of Sufis, peace and tolerance, and recalled Karachi’s painful history of hatred, prejudice and linguistic tensions. He warned that similar comments had already inflicted serious and lasting damage on the city’s social fabric.

The Sindh minister also criticized inappropriate references to state institutions during the event held a few days ago, saying such discussions are not suitable for a constitutional platform and undermine civic harmony.

Expressing concern over elected representatives using such platforms to convey biased messages, Memon noted that the incident, particularly involving MQM members targeting each other, threatens Karachi’s culture of peace and brotherhood.
