SHC order the opening of the governor’s house for the interim governor

Karachi:

The Constitutional Bank of the Superior Court of Sindh (SHC), which comprises Judge Kk Agha and Judge Adnan-Ul-Karim Memon, heard the request of the interim governor Owais Qadir Shah that challenges the blockade of the offices of the Houses of Governors.

The Court ordered the immediate reopening of these offices and ordered the main secretary to submit a compliance report before June 23.

During the urgent hearing, the bank granted the immediate access of the interim governor to the official residence of the Governor of Sindh. The court specifically ordered the unlocking of all offices (excluding private residential neighborhoods) and prevented the main secretary from obstructing the access of the interim governor.

The court also ordered that a copy of the court order be transmitted to the president of Pakistan and the main secretary of the Governor’s house, Sindh.

In the petition, it is stated that since he assumed the position, the interim governor, Owais Qadir Shah, has denied the entrance to the governor’s chamber for the official tasks, which is a violation of article 104 of the Constitution. Governor Kamran Tessori has been abroad since June 2.

The interim governor of Sindh, Owais Qadir Shah, informed the court that a meeting on law and order in today was scheduled for today, specifically to discuss issues related to Muharram. Interior Minister, Secretary, IG Sindh and other officials reached the meeting.

However, the main secretary declared that the governor had taken the office keys with him. Owais Qadir Shah declared that this was an act of considering the governor’s house as his personal hall.

He cited the Constitution, which clearly establishes that, in the absence of the governor, the interim governor can fulfill the duties.

Owais Qadir Shah said he would write to the main minister, highlighting that it was a mockery of the Constitution.
