SHARM EL-SHEIKH:
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met a host of world leaders on Monday at the Sharm el-Sheikh Peace Summit, where the signing of a historic peace agreement ended months of conflict in Gaza.
The summit, co-chaired by US President Donald Trump and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, brought together leaders from more than twenty countries in a rare show of unity for regional stability.
The Prime Minister was welcomed by President El-Sisi upon his arrival at the Congress Centre, where he joined world leaders to witness the formal signing of the Gaza ceasefire agreement.
Later, in a high-profile speech at the ceremony, President Trump gave special thanks to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and “my favorite Field Marshal Asim Munir” for their “outstanding contributions” to the peace process.
Trump’s remarks were followed by a standing ovation as he invited Prime Minister Shehbaz to the podium to deliver a special address.
Taking the stage, Prime Minister Shehbaz praised both Trump and El-Sisi for their tireless diplomatic efforts. He once again nominated the American president for the Nobel Peace Prize “for his outstanding and extraordinary contributions to stopping the war between Pakistan and India and seven other conflicts in the world.”
“Today is one of the greatest days in contemporary history because peace has been achieved after tireless efforts led by President Trump, who is genuinely a man of peace. [and] who has worked tirelessly and tirelessly throughout these months, day after day, to make this world a place to live in peace and prosperity.”
“I would say that Pakistan had nominated President Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize for his outstanding and extraordinary contributions in first stopping the war between India and Pakistan and then achieving a ceasefire along with his wonderful team. And today again, I would like to nominate this great president for the Nobel Peace Prize.”
