Shehbaz promises relief after the monzonic ravage

Disasters related to the monsoon so far have resulted in 295 deaths and more than 700 injuries throughout the country, a government agency said on Friday.

Inform Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on the devastation caused by torrential rains in different parts of the country, the president of Lieutenant General Inam Haider, Malik, the president of the National Authority for Disaster Management (NDMA), and 376 Livestock Lost due to the severe climate.

Previously, the Prime Minister reaffirmed the support of the federal government to guarantee relief and recovery in the devastation of the monsoon affected the regions of Gilgit Baltistan (GB) and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

The prime minister presided over a high-level review meeting to evaluate the human and material losses caused by the monsoon season, particularly in Gilgit-Baltist and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

The session focused on immediate help efforts, future preparation and federal support for the affected regions, according to a press release from the Prime Minister’s office.

In his comments, Prime Minister Shehbaz expressed a deep sadness for the tragic loss of lives and extensive damage inflicted by torrential rains throughout the country, especially in GB and AJK. He reiterated the unwavering solidarity of the federal government with regional governments and affected persons.

“The federal government is shoulder shoulder with the administrations and citizens of Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir in this hour of pain,” said Prime Minister.

“I will visit Gilgit-Baltistan to express solidarity with the victims, and a comprehensive federal aid package will be announced to support recovery and rehabilitation efforts,” he added.

The Prime Minister issued special directives to all federal agencies to collaborate closely with the regional authorities to perform damage evaluations and accelerate relief measures. He emphasized the need to prioritize interventions that save lives and safeguard both human life and property.

Highlighting the need for a better disaster preparation, the prime minister ordered an urgent review of the early warning system administered by the Pakistan’s department of Meteorology to be more proactive and effective.

He also directed interested departments to restore and repair road networks and communication infrastructure in an emerging way to guarantee timely delivery and mobility in the affected areas.

The prime minister emphasized a coordinated and rapid response to minimize more damage and ensure that those affected receive appropriate assistance and rehabilitation.

KSE-100 index

The prime minister, Shehbaz Sharif, expressed on Friday the satisfaction with the historical broadcast of the KSE-100 index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange, which exceeded the level of 140,000 points for the first time in history.

Calling it a “positive reflection of investor confidence,” the prime minister said that the upward trend in the stock market indicates a growing confidence in government economic policies. “The ascending impulse in the Stock Exchange is a strong support of our Economic Directorate,” he said in a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s office.

Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed that facilitating businesses and investments remains a priority for administration.
