Sher Afzal Marwat, a senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader, has rejected media reports suggesting that the party’s founder refused to meet him, calling the claims false and misleading.
Speaking to the media outside Parliament House on Friday, Marwat clarified that the recent news that the PTI founder had blocked his meeting request was completely false.
He also expressed solidarity with the media on the issue of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) and criticized the false narrative being propagated.
He said that some people on social media claim to be associated with PTI, but in reality, they are following Adil Raja’s agenda. These people are doing injustice to PTI and Imran Khan by spreading false information, he alleged.
The PTI leader made it clear that if Imran Khan tells him that his support is no longer needed, he would not even cast a shadow on him. He also asked the media to verify statements with him before broadcasting them, as such misinformation harms his supporters, voters and his community.
Marwat emphasized that such baseless rumors only create unnecessary resentment among his followers towards Khan and PTI, while his sense of self-worth was much more valuable to him than engaging in such misleading discussions.
Regarding the ongoing negotiations, he said, “I think the process is far from over as Imran Khan said, if the government agrees to form a commission, we are ready to return to the negotiating table.”
In a strong statement, Marwat said he would now distance himself from the media for a while, citing the damaging impact of fake news on his reputation.
