ISLAMABAD:
The Senate on Friday referred an adjournment motion on the implications of prosumer regulation by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) to the relevant standing committee.
The motion, introduced by Senator Sherry Rehman under Rule 88 of the 2012 Senate Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business, sought to discuss the potential impact of the regulation on Pakistan’s clean energy transition, as well as the broader macroeconomic effects of continued dependence on expensive imported hydrocarbons. However, the president referred the matter to the relevant committee for further consideration.
