Shibli prohibited from presenting a resolution

Islamabad:

The president in the Senate on Tuesday did not allow the opposition leader Shibli Faraz to present a resolution due to non-adhesion to the procedure, an event that led to a heated exchange between Shibli Faraz de PTI and the Minister of Law Azam Nazeer tarar of the PML-N.

Taking the floor, Shibli Faraz said that the Senate was completing its first year since the installation of the coalition government led by PML-N and, nevertheless, the Pakistan Electoral Commission (ECP) could not make the Senate’s elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

He demanded to know the legal status of all laws approved during this period when the Senate was incomplete. He said that this violation of the Constitution could result in the application of article 6 of the Constitution on legislators, including him.

He said that all this was being done by a single person, the founder of PTI Imran Khan. “This house no longer represents the Federation. It represents a few selected individuals. A complete province is not represented in this house,” he added.

Shibli asked why the government was not implementing the Constitution and the law. “When we approach the courts, their doors are closed for us. After amendment 26, he has packed the courts. It does not allow us to hold demonstrations,” he added.

In response to the opposition leader, Azam Nazeer Tarar said the ECP had issued a schedule for the Senate elections in the KP. However, the speaker of the KP Assembly, which belongs to the PTI, did not administer the oath to legislators or called the assembly session on time.

He said later that the Superior Court of Peshawar (PHC) ordered the speaker to convene the session and administer oaths. However, the order of the court was not followed.

“When the Senate elections were held throughout the country, the KP Assembly could not meet, which led to a delay in the Senate elections in the province. The delay was not caused by the Government but on the other side [the PTI]”, said.

Tarar said that if there was ever a clear case for article 6, it was when the then president of NA dissolved the assembly after a motion of non -confidence in the PTI government was introduced in April 2022.

“The Supreme Court attacked that movement, restoring the assembly and delivering a slap on our faces. Today, you are serving as an opposition leader in that same configuration,” he added, he added, he added, he added, he added, he added

During the session, Shibli Faraz tried to present a resolution in the Chamber, but the president, Irfan Siddiqui, stopped him, urging him to follow the rules and first present the resolution to the Senate Secretariat.

A heated exchange continued between Shibli Faraz and Azam Nazeer Tarar. At one point, Shibli asked to tive that he remained within his limits and not dictate the chair. In response, Tarar also asked him to remain within his limits and stop dictating it.
