A shootout in Machni Gate area of Peshawar resulted in six dead and six injured when armed assailants opened fire on a moving vehicle carrying wedding guests, Express News reported.
According to Machni Gate police, the attack occurred when a wedding convoy, led by Islam Allah and his family, was traveling in two vehicles.
The attackers, who were lying in wait, ambushed the vehicles with a volley of bullets. Six people died from multiple gunshot wounds, while another six were injured in the attack.
The victims have been identified as Islam Allah, Muhammad Tariq, Kamran Ilahi, Yusuf, Abbas and Ali Hassan, all residents of Tehkal. Police confirmed that the attack was the result of an ongoing dispute between Islam Allah’s family and the rival family of Arbab Saif Ali, stemming from previous murders.
Following the incident, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Investigation Noor Jamal and Superintendent of Police (SP) Warsak Mukhtiar Ali reached the spot, along with other investigation officers.
The bodies and injured people were taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
A formal case is expected to be filed after the victims’ relatives submit their report. Witnesses at the scene revealed that the bodies of the six victims remained on the road for some time before being removed.
The tragic incident, which mainly affected the residents of Tehkal, has cast a shadow of mourning over the area as funeral processions took place.
