Signed registered against PTI leaders, 550 workers about Karachi Rally


The Karachi Police have registered a case against Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) president of Karachi and seven other high-level leaders, along with 500 unidentified workers, for charges of disturbances, vandalism and interrupting public order during a concentration on the university road in Karachi.

The case was presented at the GDP Colony police station on behalf of the State, after violent incidents during a demonstration held on August 5 near Gulshan-E-Iqbal.

The demonstration was directed by the leaders of PTI Raja Azhar, Fordous Shamim Naqvi, Arsalan Khalid, Awab Alvi, Saifur Rehman and Alamgar Khan, and attended an estimate of 500 to 600 participants.

According to the FIR, the Rally participants blocked the traffic that approached and ignored the police directives to disperse.

Despite the repeated warnings, several assistants, allegedly armed with sticks, began to throw stones at police staff, which led the police to respond with tear gas under self -defense measures.

During the clash, the ejaz head agent of the Aziz Bhatti police station suffered head injuries after being beaten by a stone. The protesters fled through the nearby streets when the police regained control of the situation.

The inspector of the house of the station (SHO) GDP, Muhammad Ashfaq, confirmed that the FIR was registered in sections 147, 148, 149, 186 and 353 of the Pakistan Criminal Code, among others.

He said that 12 PTI workers had been arrested, while 500 to 550 unidentified suspects appointed in the CIRD remain in general. The investigations are ongoing.

Separately, the Islamabad police have registered a case against 16 workers of Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI), including men and women, for participating in a protest on the Islamabad highway.

The protest took place on August 5, during which PTI -working women were seen singing slogans and waving party flags.

Police arrested the protesters in the place and then transferred them to Lohi Bher’s police station.

According to officials, the FIR includes a total of 16 legal sections, including provisions under the Papa Law and another 11 crimes. Legal procedures are currently being carried out.
