- The developers are still fighting to have in their hands the development kits of Nintendo Switch 2
- Digital Foundry reports that numerous studies cannot get access to kits, they are told to send their games on Switch and “trust compatibility with previous versions”
- It is said that AAA’s great developers are also being excluded
Even after the launch of Synte Switch 2, Nintendo, according to reports, is still containing to provide development kits studies.
During the last episode of the Podcast Weekly Direct Weekly of Digital Foundry (through VGC), the hosts John Linneman and Oliver Mackenzie said that numerous developers have told them that they still cannot get access to change 2 development kits and that Nintendo tells them to concentrate on making original games of Switch.
“Lately there has been a lot of talk about this, which Nintendo seems to be almost discouraging Switch 2 development to some extent,” said Linneman.
“I have spoken with many developers where they were told that their game should simply send it to Switch 1 and trust compatibility with respect to the other way around.
“There are many developers who cannot obtain Switch 2 development kits. We talk to many developers in Gamescom this year, and many of them said the same things. They want to send it on Switch 2. They would love to make 2 versions. They cannot get the hardware. It is really difficult at this time.”

Mackenzie added that there has been talk that AAA developers are also excluded from obtaining kits, while the study of Relaxed by fireA game that uses the Switch 2 camera, is.
“I think they should [get more devkits out there]But I don’t really know what Nintendo’s mentality was with these decisions sets, “Mackenzie said.” So I really don’t understand the strategy because, as you said, even now developers are struggling to get systems.
“And I know that a few months ago, when we listened to things through the vine and talking with people, there were some strange exclusions with some great developers who struggled to obtain kits for games. And there were also some kind of strange inclusions. Some indies were included, which is pleasant to see.
“But there is that fire game, you know, the camera fire game, and they are getting kits. And some great developers, on the other hand, who developed AAA things, are not necessarily in process there for kits.”
This has been a continuous problem since before Switch 2 was launched, with developers of a wide range of studies that say they were “desperate” for having in their hands the development kits (through the game business).
According to the reports, the next direct Nintendo showcase will be issued next month, just in time to Super Mario Bros.’40 Anniversary.
