The Sindh government has announced a firm position against restaurants and other commercial establishments that reject the payments of the debit and credit card of customers.

The authorities have declared that strict measures will be taken against companies such as restaurants, shopping centers, coffee shops and Biryani centers that do not offer this payment installation to customers, The news reported.

In a movement to enforce the rights of the consumer, the Sindh consumer protection authority, which operates under the supply price office, has already initiated actions when issuing notices to several prominent restaurants located in the Karachi Clifton area.

According to reports, these establishments have received formal notices for violating the 2014 Sindh consumer protection law, and legal procedures have begun against them.

The general director Zahid Hussain Shar emphasized the government’s commitment to ensure that companies provide convenient payment options to customers.

In a statement, it made it clear that all restaurants throughout the province, including those of Karachi, will face strict legal actions if they do not offer the installation of debit payments or credit card.

In addition, he declared that the government has realized the issue under section 23 (4) of the authority based on public complaints.

DG Shar said that appropriate legal measures will be taken against this serious violation, and an investigation has been launched to provide relief to consumers.

Deputy Director Mir Shahnawaz has issued strict directives to companies to immediately leave this violation.

Restaurant owners have received instructions to appear personally or send their authorized representatives to the authority of the authority to answer the notice. It has been made clear that the breach of compliance will result in strict legal actions under the relevant laws.

Shar transmitted a clear message that it is companies responsibility to provide multiple payment options to customers, and no negligence will be tolerated in this regard. He stressed that consumer rights will be safeguarding at all costs.
