The Constitution Bench of the Sindh High Court has ordered the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) and other relevant departments to submit a report within two weeks on the commercial activities in a residential building on Burns Road.
The hearing, led by Judge KK Agha, dealt with a petition relating to commercial activities in a residential building in the Burns Road area.
During the proceedings, the SBCA lawyer informed the court that the illegal shops had been sealed, but that some people had reopened the shops by removing the seals.
Despite the new lockdown, seals were broken again and stores reopened. Legal proceedings are currently being initiated against these people.
The petitioner’s counsel argued that the court had previously ordered SBCA to cease commercial activities in the residential building.
He also expressed concern that the building, which is part of an archaeological site, was being damaged by shop construction, posing a risk of collapse.
The court ordered that legal action be taken against those involved in the illegal activities, emphasizing that cases must be filed against people who violated the law.
The court also directed the SBCA and other relevant authorities to submit a report within two weeks.
