The Sindh health department has issued directives to all district health officials to take immediate action following a rise in Covid-19 and H1N1 influenza cases across the province, Express News reported.
According to the directive of the director general of health services, all health centers must ensure strict monitoring of cases to allow early detection and timely treatment. Suspected and confirmed cases must be reported without delay.
Hospitals have been ordered to ensure availability of personal protective equipment (PPE) for medical staff to prevent infections. In addition, public awareness campaigns will be launched to highlight the benefits of vaccination and encourage people to get vaccinated.
Public and private healthcare facilities have been ordered to implement effective infection control measures to curb the spread of diseases. Authorities will also promote preventive measures such as the use of masks, hand hygiene and social distancing.
The directive emphasized the importance of educating the public about the symptoms of Covid-19 and H1N1 to facilitate timely medical intervention.
Health authorities will compile and submit weekly reports on the number of cases and response measures to relevant institutions for continuous evaluation and immediate corrective actions.
