Karachi: Several districts of all SNDH are staggered under an intense heat wave, with temperatures that are expected to trigger 5 to 7 degrees Celsius above normal today, said the department of Meteorology of Pakistan (PMD) on Monday.

According to the Met, Larkana, Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Kashmore, the Qambar Shahdokot district, the Ghotki district, the Sukkur district and other areas can witness unusually high temperatures as the heat wave intensifies throughout the province.

In Karachi, Thatta, Sujawal, Badin, Mirpurkhas, Uumerkot and Tharparkar, intermittent strong winds are forecast to continue today, aggravating the hot and dry conditions that have reached the region in recent days.

The PMD said that Karachi is expected to experience a warm and humid climate on Tuesday and Wednesday, with maximum temperatures that will probably range between 36 ° C and 38 ° C. However, the sea breeze is expected to be resumed, providing some relief to residents.

The weather alert continues a week of temperatures constantly increasing the city in the port city. On Sunday, Mercury reached its maximum point at almost 40 ° C, and similar conditions are expected to persist in the next few days.

The Muhammad Afzal Chief Meteorologist has previously warned of a national increase in temperatures due to climate change and the effect of urban heat island, particularly in densely populated cities such as Karachi.

He warned that temperatures could remain from 2 ° C to 3 ° C above normal in much of the country and up to 4 ° C higher in Karachi.

With the heat of growing challenges, the PMD has urged citizens to take caution measures. These include staying hydrated, avoiding outdoor activities during the sun’s peak and conserving water to relieve the load of public infrastructure.
