The lawyers in Sindh announced on Tuesday that they are finishing all the ongoing sitting throughout the province, except the protest of Baberlo ByPass in Khairpur, after the Common Interests Council (CCI) rejected the controversial project of new Channels of the Indo River.
After CCI’s decision, the celebrations broke out in the sitting Baberlo Bypass, where the protests had entered on their 12th. The protesters described the rejection of the CCI to the channel project as a great victory for the unity and resistance of Sindh.
The lawyer committee of all the SINDH confirmed that the judicial attacks would officially end from April 30 and that the sitations in places such as Karachi, Kandhkot, Ghotki and other districts had concluded.
However, the sitting droots will continue for now, since several additional demands remain unsolved.
The lawyer leader Sarfraz Metlo declared that the Action Committee would maintain conversations with the officials of the Sindh government in Sukkur to promote more demands, including the abolition of corporate agriculture, the withdrawal of cases against Protestant lawyers and the return of the seized vehicles.
A decision will be made with respect to the sitting to break it after these negotiations.
The president of the Karachi Lawyers Association, Aamir Nawaz Warraich, said that while Baberlo’s protest persists, the traffic flow is no longer interrupted.
He reiterated the demand that corporate agriculture projects are also canceled after the withdrawal of the government of the new channels.
On Monday, the Common Interest Council (CCI) rejected on Monday the federal government proposal to build new Channels of the Indo River, annuling a previous decision of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) taken in February.
“New channels will not be built without mutual understanding and consensus among all the provinces,” said a statement from the Prime Minister after the meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The high -level meeting, convened early at the request of the Government of Sindh, attended the main ministers of the four provinces, the Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, Federal Minister Ameer Muqam and other officials.
