Sindh’s Minister of Culture decides to organize the funeral of Humaira Asghar


The Minister of Culture and Tourism of Sindh, Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah, announced Thursday that his department will organize the burial of the late actress Humaira Asghar Ali.

This decision occurs after the discussions with the additional IG Karachi on the subject of the burial of the actress, he reported Express news.

Shah addressed the general director of the culture to act as the focal person for this matter.

The minister said that if Humaira’s family refuses to claim his body or organize the funeral, the Department of Culture of Sindh will assume responsibility as his legal heir.

In an official letter sent to Dig East, the minister stressed that Humaira was not exempt from heirs and that the Department of Provincial Culture would supervise the funeral process, including burial in a cemetery.

The letter declared that the incident surrounding his death was tragic and heartbreaking.

Shah said that the priority of the department is to ensure that the deceased’s family agrees to receive his body.

He also promised that the Department of Culture, with police cooperation, would take all necessary measures to facilitate burial.

The actor and model Humaira Asghar Ali, 35, was found dead in his department of Karachi, according to the reports, after months without public appearance. His body was discovered when their owner and police arrived to evict it due to lack of rent.

The deceased was found in an advanced state of decomposition after the authorities broke into their floor finding the closed door from the inside.

Police have been contacting their separate family using contact data obtained from their lessor.

Humaira’s father and brother were contacted by the police, but his father refused to travel to Karachi, citing her departure two years ago.

The researchers recovered two mobile phones from the scene, which have been sent for forensic analysis.

They are also exploring the possibility of a third phone, since no communication has been tracked beyond October 2024.

No suspicious images of CCTV were found in the building. The investigation is ongoing.
