At least six passengers died in a brutal attack against a bus bound for Karachi in the Kalmat area of Gwadar on Wednesday night.
The incident occurred in the Kalmat area, where five people died instantly, and one succumbed to injuries later while receiving treatment at the hospital. The authorities confirmed that the victims, all who were traveling to Karachi, included a fine man.
This attack adds to a growing number of violent incidents in Baluchistan. Only a few days before, the armed assailants killed four Punjab workers in Mangochar, Baluchistan.
The workers, who were involved in the installation of Tubewell in Langzai, were attacked and killed by armed men. Local officials confirmed that the victims were from Sadiqabad, Punjab.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the murder of five passengers in a shooting incident in the Kalmat area of Gwadar on Thursday.
In separate statements, both leaders expressed their condolences, praying for the peace of the deceased, the rapid recovery of the injured and the strength for afflicted families.
President Zardari emphasized that terrorists are enemies of both the development of the country and in the prosperity of Baluchistan, and pointed out that they oppose progress in the region.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif ordered the authorities to provide the best medical treatment to the injured and thoroughly investigate the incident, ensuring that perpetrators are taken to justice.
He denounced the attackers as enemies of peace and development, condemning their brutal actions.
By reaffirming the government’s commitment, the prime minister promised to frustrate any antiestatal agenda. He also praised the security forces and the agencies of application of the law for their efforts in the protection of the country, expressing national pride for their actions.
