- Sky Live cameras will stop working on December 4
 - All customers (upfront payments and monthly payments) will receive a refund
 - Don’t forget to recycle

Sky Live, the Kinect-like camera accessory for Sky Glass TV, is closing in December 2025, and by closing I mean exactly that. If you are currently a Sky Live user, your camera will simply stop working on December 4.
The camera was launched in 2023 as a companion to the Sky Glass TV and was designed to expand the capabilities of your TV by allowing you to use it as a fitness trainer, as a controller for motion-controlled games, to allow screen sharing with other households and to make Zoom calls.
For Sky Glass users, it offered plenty of features, but its hardware exclusivity meant it would always be aimed at a relatively small market. So it’s not a big surprise that Sky has decided to pull the plug on the hardware and its services.
Sky tells us that “all Sky customers who purchased Sky Live will receive a refund for the amount they paid for the device.” And to soften the blow, Sky is also offering everyone who bought one a free 12-month subscription to the Mvmnt fitness app, albeit in its version without motion tracking.
Why is Sky Live closing?
Sky says it is refocusing, that it is proud of the “ambition” behind Sky Live (which sounds like corporate speak to me because it “didn’t attract enough customers”) and that it has learned a lot from the project. In a statement, Sky told us:
It has provided us with valuable learnings that are helping shape the future of our products. The most popular feature was the games, which is why we continued to bring even more games to Sky Glass and Sky Stream, with something for everyone in the family, including Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.
We’re focusing our investment on what matters most to customers: faster, easier products, great content, and brilliant service. Customers who purchased Sky Live will receive a refund.
Refunding Sky Live customers is an elegant move, I think, because Sky Live wasn’t cheap: £290 if you bought it outright, or £6 a month. If you are still paying for one, you will be refunded what you have paid so far and future payments will be suspended.
You can return your Sky Live directly to Sky using a prepaid label or take it to your local electrical recycling centre.
