Karachi:

State Life Insurance Corporation (SLIC) has decided to introduce a pension product for life for all retired government employees. The corporation will also offer its insured the greatest bonus in its history this year.

In addition, SLIC is collaborating with the Government of Sindh to improve primary medical care in the province, with a working group already established for this purpose.

This was shared by the CEO of SLIC, Shoaib Javed Hussain, during an exclusive interview with Express news Thursday. Dr. Aftab Imam, Executive Director of State Life Insurance, was also present at the meeting.

Hussain declared that the draft proposed pension plan would be ready within a month, after which it would be sent to the federal government for approval. In addition, he explained that the scheme would be accessible to people 70 years or older, allowing retired employees to benefit from it.

In this sense, the Corporation also acquired the VPS license from the Pakistan Stock Exchange and Securities Commission (SECP). The pension plan is expected to be launched at the end of this year.

In another front, SLIC is working with the Government of Sindh to improve primary medical care in the province. A working group has been formed, led by Sindh Prime Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, to supervise the implementation of medical care projects in Sindh.

Responding to a consultation, Hussain highlighted the remarkable growth in the group insurance segment of the Corporation, attributing its success to competitive prices and higher services. Similarly, the growth of Takaful products has been very encouraging.

Regarding the health card scheme introduced to media workers, Hussain revealed that journalists in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab have been widely using health cards.

However, the use of health cards in Karachi by journalists remains limited. In response, the SLIC, in collaboration with the Karachi Press Club, will launch an awareness campaign dedicated to inform journalists about the benefits of the health card scheme.
