
Dehradun: Seven people, including a small child, were killed on Sunday in India when a helicopter who transported the Hindu pilgrims of a sanctuary crashed in the Himalayas, authorities said.
The fatal accident occurs when relatives cry at least 279 people killed when a passenger plane crashed into a residential area in the Western city of Ahmedabad on Thursday.
The helicopter accident left the pilot and the six dead passengers when his helicopter fell during the flight from the Kedarnath temple, in the state of Uttarakhand, said the official of the disaster response Nandan Singh Rajwar AFP.
The state prime minister, Pushkar Singh Dhami, said the rescue teams had been sent to the scene after the “very sad news.”
The accident was probably caused by bad weather, according to the tourism official of the Rahul Chaubey district.
Pilgrims come to the Kedarnath temple during the summer when it is possible to access the site, which is at an altitude of 3,584 meters (11,759 feet).
