- According to reports, Siri gets more in the late this year

Apple has tangled up with Siri and Apple Intelligence, with promised improvements of now officially delayed and the company received many criticisms for it, but at least some of these delayed characteristics could appear at the end of this year.
In an article by the New York Times that recapites some of the recent problems of Apple’s AI, including internal friction about future plans, it is mentioned that Siri would obtain certain updates “in autumn” in the United States, so probably the time of September, with the iPhone 17 and iOS 19.
“Apple has not canceled its renewed Siri,” says the article. “The company plans to launch a virtual assistant in autumn capable of doing things like editing and sending a photo to a friend, they said three people with knowledge of their plans.”
That is not much to leave: are we obtaining some additional photo editing capabilities or the complete set of delayed features? Ultimately, Apple wants to put Siri along with Chatgpt or Gemini, but that may not happen in 2025.
Delayed features
The photo editing function mentioned in NYT article is one of the updates of Apple Intelligence promised in 2024: Siri’s ability to deepen the iPhone applications and take actions on behalf of users through voice commands (known as applications attempts).
However, that is only part of the image. Apple has also said that Siri will become much smarter in terms of context, understand more about what is happening on your iPhone and more about you (taking advantage of some of your personal data, privately and safely).
Once Siri obtains those characteristics, you can compete better with your chatbot rivals of AI. Just this week, for example, Chatgpt added an update of memory that means that you can take advantage of your complete conversation history to get answers, if necessary.
Apple Intelligence characteristics already added to Siri include support for a more natural language in conversations and a better technological help support for their devices. As for iOS 19, I expect to hear more about software update in early June.
