- According to reports, the deep air of iPhone 17 Pro and Space Black iPhone is easily scratched
- These phones can also show visible qualifications after being used with Magsafe accessories
- The clearest colors seem less affected
The iPhone 17 series has had a strong start, with these phones achieving excellent criticism and apparently having a great demand, but now that they have arrived with some buyers, we are listening to reports from a possible problem.
As reported by Bloomberg, several buyers discover that these phones are easily scratched, with the deep Blue iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max, and Space Black iPhone air is the most susceptible to visible scratches.
Most of the scratch seems to be on the glass panel under the camera block, as seen in this X post from @Amisecued, but some images and videos also show scratches in the camera housing.
@Apple sorry, but #Scratchgate is real and very disappointing, a case will help, but I think even a few minutes without a case in the pocket with keys and the phone is damaged, it really verifies you! There are even reports of visible brands leaving Chargers Magsafe, as you can see in the images shared by Consomac, so it seems that these iPhone tones really show damage.
Presumably, that is why the other tones, most of which are lighter, are not so problematic, since although they can be as easy to scratch, scratches are perhaps less visible to them.
Beyond that, Apple’s decision to change Titanium in the iPhone 16 Pro series to aluminum for the iPhone 17 Pro could also have an impact.
Contaminated beauty
That is unfortunate, because when they do not become beautiful phones, and the deep blue tone is quite striking, while the Space Black will surely be very popular, as is usually black tones.
Even so, we would not say that you should avoid these colors now. On the one hand, it is not clear how widespread these scratch reports are really, so your phone could be fine. For another, although scratches are not desirable, they are purely cosmetics, so it will not affect the functionality of your device.
And we always recommend putting an expensive phone in a case anyway, it is perhaps even more important here.
We have contacted Apple to comment on this problem of scratching and we will update this article if we receive news.
