- The former PlayStation executive, Shuhei Yoshida, said that the first Nintendo PlayStation game would have been a space shooter
- Yoshida could play a prototype of the console and try the game “almost finished”
- The game was inspired by the SEGA CD version of Silpin
According to former PlayStation Shuhei Yoshida executive, Nintendo PlayStation’s first unpublished game would have been a space shooter.
After Sony’s departure last month, Yoshida sat with Minnmax to remember her 31 years in the company, as well as her first day at work where she could play the first unpublished game of Nintendo PlayStation.
For some context, there was initially an association between Sony and Nintendo to develop a CD-ROM complement to the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) called SNES-CD. However, the collaboration finally failed, and the project then resulted in the creation of the original playstation.
Yoshida explained that he joined Sony in 1993 after the collaboration ended and became part of Ken Kutaragi’s team to work on PS1, and that is where a hardware prototype was shown for the first time.
“The first thing they showed us was that Nintendo-Sary PlayStation, a prototype that already worked, and also had almost finished a game, and I could play in the system the day I joined me,” Yoshida revealed.
“It was like a shooter. Do you remember in the CD Sega system, there is an incredible game of Game Arts, a Space Shooter, and all assets are transmitted from the CD … so there are many assets …”
The game that Yoshida refers is the SEGA CD version of Silpinthat was a space shooter that placed Polygon is sent on FMV funds, and because these videos were prejudiced, he explained that the unpublished game had “richer graphics than the standard of that time.”
Yoshida said he does not remember who created it, but could have developed in the United States or Japan, and added that “it would not be surprised” if Sony had the game in your file.
On the other hand, Yoshida spoke recently in the announcement of Nintendo Switch 2, who thought “could have been a larger revelation”, and expects “something that people do not anticipate” will be shared later.
