Sony Wh-000xm6 headphones were launched a couple of weeks ago, and many praise have already attracted: see our Sony Wh-000xm6 review, for example. Now we have another reason to invest in a couple: they are easier to repair than the previous models.
According to Iphixit experts, “Sony seems to have made a deliberate effort to design the WH-000xm6 with repair in mind,” and there have been adjustments on how these headphones that show that have gathered.
Crucially, says Ifixit, the battery inside the headphones is now fixed in place with two screws, instead of being stuck with the double-sided adhesive that was used for the Sony Wh-1000xm5, which was launched in 2022.
The modular controller is also easy to replace, says Ifixit: there is no glue with which to deal with and the component can be obtained without the risk of damaging other parts of the interior of the headphones.

Ifixit also reports that the USB-C port, the audio connector and the buttons board are “easily accessible”, which facilitates repairs. The idea is that if a part of the Sony Wh-000xm6 headphones fails, it does not have to replace them completely.
However, not all are good news on the repair front: Iphixit says that there is not much improvement in the headband, so if there is a problem with this part of the device, it is possible that you have to obtain a new pair.
Of course, when we say that the Sony Wh-000xm6 are easier to repair, you still need a certain amount of technical knowledge and some specialized tools for work. However, the work is now simpler, whether you do it yourself or take it to a repair workshop.
