- Sony’s new sound bars get us prices from us, although there is no launch date
- Sony Theater Bar 6: $ 649 | Sony 6 theater system: $ 769
- A higher price trend continues than competition
Sony recently announced the prices of the United States of its new television line, and the price of its new OLED TV is much higher than the competition, and that is despite the fact that the same television is in line with the competition in the United Kingdom.
It seems that the same pattern is also happening with its new sound bars. We still have no prices from the United Kingdom, but the US price is quite high for the standards of the medium -sized budget sound bar.
The new Dolby Atmos Dolby Atmospos 3.2.1 channels with speakers that repress and a separate wireless subwoofer will cost $ 649. The Sony Bravia Theater System 6 is a 5.1 -channel wrapping system with sound bar, two rear speakers connected to a wireless box and a subwoofer, and will cost $ 769.
Do not confuse those two models despite the very similar names: the latter does not include improvement conductors, although it admits the decoding of Dolby Atmos. Both sound bars admit DTS: X too.
The new wireless rear speakers of Sony Theater Turter 8 that can be added to the sound bars (including the Bravia Theater Bar 6, but also the tastes of Sony Theater Bar 8) cost $ 449 for the couple.
There is a lot of power and scale in the sound of these speakers: the 6000W theater system is not particularly high specification, and these seem to follow Sony’s tendency to set the price of their televisions and sound bars slightly high in the United States.
The Sony Theater Bar 6 is a replacement for the Sony HT-G700, a model that costs $ 599 when it was launched in 2020. For its replacement to add speakers and only cost $ 50 more since inflation has totaled more than 20% since then in the US. UU means that the price increase is not so bad in the vacuum cleaner.
But the problem here is really the higher the price of the United States than the price of the United Kingdom. We still don’t have that, but the launch price of the United Kingdom of the HT-G700 was £ 449, which equated $ 560 at that time, and that price including Sales tax. The price of the street in the United Kingdom also tends to fall more regularly in Sony’s sound bars.
As mentioned above, we are watching the same type of history with television Sony Bravia 8 II, which is the new top -level OLED television of the company, and has a much higher price in the United States than in the United Kingdom.
In the United Kingdom, Bravia 8 II has a very slightly higher price but basically in line with its competitor, the LG G5, 55 inches, and is cheaper than the G5 to 65 inches. In the United States, however, Bravia 8 II costs $ 600 to $ 1,100 more than the LG G5 or the Samsung S95F, depending on the size.
Are fault tariffs?
There is a question about whether Sony has set them with the expectation of needing to include tariff costs, but the company has not confirmed this, and there is no real reason to think about it, apart from the fact that prices are so out of line with the competition.
But as I said before, Sony has a frustrating habit of doing this in the United States, and the prices of the sound bar fit directly with what we have seen of the company in the past.
Was the sound bars worth the price? I have heard them both in action, and the Bravia Theater System 6 (the envelope) offers a very impressive sound scale, in addition to a large party trick (literally) that I think Sonos should steal.
The Theater Bar 6 is also impressively overwhelming, although in my demonstration I worried that I was a bit compressed in the middle range. We will have to wait for a complete review to be safe, but with the Samsung HW-Q800D with a street price very close to Bar 6 theater, I suspect that the Samsung can overcome Sony.
I wanted to see Sony get balanced with aggressive prices for these bars, and really take our list of the best assault sound bars: competition is good for everyone. These prices seem too high, but we will expect our reviews for the final judgment.
