- The launch confirms inclinable EVF and 33MP full frame sensor
- The 4K 60 FPS video requires a harvest for Super 35 format
- $ 2,700 / £ 2,700 / au $ 5,299 body only price
Update: May 28, 2025
It is official: Sony has announced the FX2 as the latest incorporation to its Cinema Line range of camera -free manufacturing cameras.
It comes with a CMOS sensor of total plot of 33MP of backup capable of delivering more than 15 dynamic range stops with the S-Log3 color profile. You can register 4K 30 fps using the entire width of the sensor, or 4K 60 FPS when cutting the Super 35 format, and has a double base ISO of 800 and 4000 with S-LOG3.
The body of the chamber is compact (129.7 x 77.8 x 103.7 mm) and relatively light (679 g before the lenses or other additions). Internal cooling components allow up to 13 hours of continuous 4K 60 fps recording, but perhaps the most interesting physical design piece is the new inclined EVF.
This DOT of 3.68 million comes with a deep eye piece and the ability to bow up to 90 degrees up, which allows users to achieve what Sony describes as “deep immersion” during use.
Meanwhile, the 3-inch angle LCD touch screen has a “Big6” customizable home screen capable of showing at-glance parameters such as FPS, ISO, shutter speed, white balance, iris and more.
The Sony FX2 will be available from July 2025 with a price of $ 2,700 / £ 2,700 / au $ 5,299 of body alone or $ 3,100 / £ 3,150 / AU $ 5,999 in a package with the XLR-H1 digital handle of Sony XLR-H1. There were rumors that the FX2 would admit 32 -bit floating audio recording, but that does not seem to be the case.
The original article follows:
Sony will launch a new camera without a film line later today, but a set of filtered photographs seems to have spilled beans and spoil the surprise a few hours before.
Published in the rumors of Sony Alpha, the four images show the alleged Sony FX2, an electronic assembly camera focused on the full video. Three of the photos are promotional lifestyle that show the camera in action, while the fourth and most interesting is full of first -line information about features and specifications.
As is rumored, the Sony FX2 seems to wear the same 33MP sensor of full frame exmor r cmos as seen above in the cameras A7 IV and A7C II of the company. Apparently, it will admit Dual Native ISO (800 and 4000) and video capture up to 4K 60 FPS as 10 bits 4: 2: 2 with more than 15 dynamic range stops.
Although that 4K 60 FPS recording will only be admitted in Super 35 format, which means that it will be trimmed by force instead of using the entire surface of that huge sensor. It is likely to disappoint some cameramen.

What about 32 -bit floating recording?

Attend
The image also seems to confirm the aforementioned electronic viewfinder mentioned above (EVF); It is also shown in one of the lifestyle.
The FX2 will also admit the RAW output of 16 bits through its HDMI, it will have an active cooling system to combat overheating problems and a venice user interface that is thrown towards the videography instead of the fixed photos. The 32 -bit floating audio recording here is not mentioned here, which is another feature that we have heard will be included.
So, although the 4K 60 FPS trimmed is not what many users would have expected, the FX2 is being configured to be a very well equipped camera for content creators and youtubers. Much will depend on the price, of course. $ 3,500 is the RRP rumored (which becomes around £ 2,600 / au $ 5400), which seems quite steep for a film camera that exceeds 4K.
For now, all of the above still does not confirm for Sony, but there is not much to wait for the official launch. It is happening later today, May 28, 2025, at 3pm BST / 4pm CET. You can see the live presentation on YouTube (above).
We will inform about the Sony FX2 once everything is official and we have the complete details about the specifications, the characteristics and the prices.
