Sophie Cunningham suffered a terrifying right knee injury that forced her to leave the Indiana Fever game against the Sun of Connecticut on Sunday.
Cunningham needed help to get out of the court at the beginning of the second quarter after Bria Hartley del Sun sank while trying to make a pass.
Cunningham took a step forward to provide an extra defense in the painting, and when Hartley turned Lexie Hull, lost his balance and fell directly on the right leg of the fever star.

He immediately jumped, grabbing his leg around his knee. Cunningham, with a towel on his head, was helped by coaches to the locker room.
The fever confirmed that it was a right knee injury for Cunningham, who was discarded by the rest of the game, according to the Indy star. However, the seriousness of the injury has not yet been revealed.
Fans of fever can be fearing the worst for Cunningham, which had a lot of pain.

It seems that Indiana cannot get away from the injury error lately, since the superstar guard Caitlin Clark remains with a groin ailment.
The fever also announced on August 8 that Sydney Colson and Aari McDonald, both guards for Indiana, have been discarded during the rest of the 2025 season. Colson broke the left LCA, while McDonald has a broken bone on the right foot.
Cunningham left the game without scoring a point for fever, losing the three attempts at the field goal. She had a rebound and a rotation.

Fever expects Cunningham’s injury not as bad as it seems. Upon entering Sunday, they are the seventh team planted in the classification of the WNBA with 18-16, with the eight best teams winning a trip to the playoffs.
