Sophie Cunningham to the WNBA Commissioner: ‘Tell Cathy to pay us’

Indiana Fever’s star, Sophie Cunningham, sent a forceful message to the WNBA and Commissioner Cathy Engelbert while talking to journalists on Sunday.

When asked if the WNBA season is too long or too short, Cunningham referred to the ongoing negotiations of the League with the players’ union on a new collective bargaining agreement, and the players express the desire for more money.

“You can tell Cathy to pay us, and then we can have an argument,” said Cunningham.

Cunningham is only one of the many players who talk about more compensation, since the National Association of Basketball (WNBPA) female negotiates a new agreement with the League.

The players met with the League officials on Thursday, and the parties did not reach an agreement. The Chicago Sky star, Angel Reese, was one of the many WNBA players who have criticized the management of the League negotiations.

“It was a revelation for me. As, listening to things and listening to the language of things and not the things I was happy to listen. The things they sent us was disrespectful, the proposal they sent us,” he said on Friday.
