- New early orders listing for the MSI Claw A8 in online European retailers have appeared
- Prices suggest that claw A8 will cost a little less than $ 1,000 / £ 1,000, similar to claw 8 ai+
- It can be a difficult sale, along the same line as its 8 ai+ counterpart
Portable PC players have anxiously waiting for the debut of the Ryzen Z2 Extreme of AMD processor, which promises a better performance of portable games. Fortunately, the MSI Claw A8 is officially the first to launch using the powerful chip, but early listings indicate an unpleasant price.
As reported by Videocardz, European retailers have early orders available for the MSI Claw A8, with listings that indicate a price in the same stadium as the MSI Claw 8 AI+. On the rise, it is available for € 976 (excluding taxes, € 820). There are still no listings in the United States or the United Kingdom, so it is not exactly clear what the final prices will be, but all signs point to a price of just under $ 1,000 / £ 1,000.
Based on the first reference points, the performance of the Claw A8 is very similar to that of the Claw 8 AI+, which uses the Intel Core Ultra 7 258v processor. As is evident below (thanks to Lines Tech on YouTube), Shadow of the Tomb Raider It has an average of 52 fps at 1080p in the 8 AI+claw, while the A8 claw has an average of 49 fps at 1080p in the same graphics configuration.
If this is reduced to Ryzen Z2 Extreme of the A8 claw, it is a little weaker than the Core Ultra 7 258v, or the 24 GB of RAM of the first (which is strangely 16 GB of RAM in the reference video) instead of 32 GB, it is not yet clear. However, it seems that it has a price slightly under the MSI Claw 8 AI+ ($ 900 / £ 899 / AU $ 1,799), and that is not a good look.
ANALYSIS: If the MSI Claw 8 AI+ A $ 899 is difficult for sale, then so is the MSI Claw A8
After finally using the MSI Claw 8 AI+ (the review soon), it is easily one of the best laptops of this generation with a solid game performance.
Unfortunately, however, it remains a very difficult sale at $ 899 / £ 899 / AU $ 1,799. If the A8 claw with less RAM along with a potentially weaker processor for the performance of the games is at the same price or just a little cheaper, then I doubt that it competes well in the hand market.
Once again, I must emphasize that there are no lists of the United Kingdom or the US for the MSI Claw A8, but the price of European retailers gives us a strong idea of what they could be. It is also worth noting that tariffs on China’s products will probably affect prices, as we have already seen with the MSI Claw 8 AI+, so it could place the new claw in a weaker position in the market.
While the OLED steam cover is a weaker performance in terms of performance, it still offers enough for excellent portable game experience at $ 549 / £ 479 / AU $ 899. That is also in the same region as the Asus Rog Ally at $ 649.99 / £ 599 (currently $ 449.99 for sale) using the Ryzen Z1 Extreme.
If the Z2 Extreme does not prove to be a great leap of its predecessor, then I cannot see the new Claw A8 that exceeds its counterpart of Claw 8 AI+ especiallyIf stock problems and availability arise.
